Sand at The Plettenberg gets a new beach look!

Sand restaurant at The Plettenberg, the five star, Relais and Chateaux hotel, in Plettenberg Bay has recently been given a face lift and a whole new look by the Hotcocoa team consisting of Dawn Dickerson, Carmel Naude and architect David Misplon.
The new look has brought the sand, beach and sea into the restaurant in colours, mood and design. Two over sized luminous transparencies of whales and dolphins form the focal axis of the restaurant in deep sea blues. During the day they form strong colour focal points and at night, the panels are lit up, bringing them alive in breathtaking luminosity with the bold scale of the superb mammals of the sea creating the effect that you are swimming alongside them.
Beautiful simple finishes create the laid back, relaxed, yet stylish holiday mood - sand, sea and sky: white wood floors, turquoise glass clad columns, lime washed wooden chairs, wet sand colour toweling table under lays, all create the perfect backdrop for the 180 degree views of Plettenberg Bay from every spot in the restaurant. Large scale mirrors framed in high gloss white frames reflect the views of the sea.
Lighting adds the final touches in creating the warm, sensual and luminous quality: glowing white and crystal chandeliers, a lit up floating bulkhead and glass columns.
The menu too has been updated to suit this beautiful new space. Head chef Alicia Gilomee, along side Christiaan Campbell, Executive chef for The Collection by Liz McGrath have created the perfect seaside menu but still keeping the sophistication and style of The Plettenberg.
Expect to see fresh fish, slow roast duck, Karoo lamb and prawns done many exciting and different ways and Sand's famous seafood platter on the menu which changes seasonally. Weekly specials are also on offer incorporating the freshest of local ingredients
